Unit 731
During World War II a biological research department was placed in Manchukuo, Northeast of China. It gained notoriety for its horrific conducted experiments on Russians, South East Asians, and Pacific Islanders. General Shiro Ishii, an officer of the Kwantung Army who was in charge of the research department. Test subjects were provided by Kempeitai, which was like the German Gestapo secret police. Prisoners of war were forced into experiments such as Vivisection's without drugs, Germ warfare that included diseases such syphilis and gonorrhea, they also poured anthrax on their victims to see what the results were. Prisoners were also used for weapon testing experiments such as grenades, flame throwers, and other explosives. 70% Chinese victims were found dead both civilian and military, while 30% were russians. Other gruesome experiments were also conducted, but they ended after the Russian invasion of Manchukuo. In 1945 after Japan had surrendered to the Allies, General Douglas MacArthur gave immunity after the discover of the research papers and in exchange the U.S. received data on bio-warfare and the human experimentation.
